Since the late 1990s, the LocGov Research Network has produced some of the most comprehensive comparative data on local elected officials and administrators in Europe. The network connects researchers from across the continent, combining survey research, comparative country studies, and joint publications. Current projects include a new survey of mayors (Mayors III) and a study on the professionalisation and politicisation of local government (PROFLOC).
A growing network of national research teams from across Europe, each contributing local expertise and data to the group's comparative surveys and publications.
The network is currently running two projects: Mayors III, a new comparative survey of mayors building on two previous rounds, and ProfLoc, a study on the professionalisation and politicisation of local government in Europe.
From edited volumes to peer-reviewed articles, the network's findings are published through leading academic outlets, including Palgrave Macmillan.
Regular working meetings where partners share findings, develop survey instruments, and coordinate joint research.
