The LocGov Research Network is currently preparing its third survey of mayors in Europe. Building on two previous rounds conducted over the past two decades, Mayors III will map the evolving profiles, attitudes, and working conditions of mayors across a growing number of European countries. 

PROFLOC is a comparative research project examining the tensions between the professionalisation and politicisation of local government across Europe. Drawing on a framework developed by Filipe Teles and Hubert Heinelt, participating researchers are preparing national case studies that explore how these two dynamics play out at the local level in their respective countries. The project will result in two joint publications bringing together country contributions within a shared analytical structure, with a survey of key actors to follow at a later stage.
